Happy New Year in this year of the Black Tiger! It is a great honor to express my vision and tremendous responsibilities as the Dean of College of Medicine, Ewha Womans University (Fig. 1). Throughout the last year as a preparation period, we have organized multiple works and carried out new plans.

The first thing to realize our development plans was to secure funds. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the professors, alumni, and companies who have offered us funding and who are willing to lay the foundation for our vision. We are going to open a new chapter and we need to move from Good Enough Ewha Womans University Medical College (EUMC) towards Great Ewha Womans University Medical College and Medical Center (EUMC2).

To this end, we would like to achieve four agendas as follows:

First, “Ewha Center for Medical Education” will be established to advance medical education. It is necessary to establish a specialized organization for medical education to systematically support the practice of medical ideology such as framing medical education policies through the placement of stable medical education professionals and the development of various medical education programs.

We will establish Ewha Center for Medical Education to recruit outstanding students and cultivate medical personnel needed by the nation. For the advancement of the medical education system, we will build the Learning Management System customized for students and professors in College of Medicine. In addition, we will strengthen clinical performance examination (CPX) education and integrated education management systems to increase clinical performance capabilities. As our curriculum provides a lot of practical courses, we will seek for solutions to develop high-quality educational contents that consider both online and offline methods through continuous teaching workshops, and find ways to communicate better with students.

Second, we strive to encourage research activities by supporting research fields linked to the biomedical industry as well as basic-clinical medicine to keep up with the trend of pursuing convergence research.

Along with the establishment of a key research institute, we will support the Medical Research Institute and establish the Ewha Graduate School of Convergence Medi-TEChnology (EMTEC) as a special graduate school to focus more on convergence research. We will lead interdisciplinary study with inclusion of multiple majors such as precision medicine, regenerative medicine, bioinformatics, medical big data, neuroscience, and genetic counseling to incorporate basic and clinical medicine with industrial needs.

Third, we will put more efforts to raise donations for making our development plans come true. In particular, the sponsorship of alumni, faculty members, and companies has continued from the last semester, which strengthens our research and education capabilities and expands cooperation among Magok Valley-Global Biohealth and Pharmaceutical Companies-University and Industry Collaboration Foundation–Hospital.

A series of donations to College of Medicine at Ewha, continuing the “Bo Gyoo Nyeo Kwan” tradition of ‘the First Modern Women’s Hospital’ established in 1987 will serve as a solid foundation for educating medical students to lead the future era of artificial intelligence, deepening research on advanced medicine, and strengthening the status of a leading research university, which is a key agenda in ‘Ewha Vision 2030+’ (Fig. 2).

Lastly, we will endeavor to efficiently administer College of Medicine and recruit professors. With the establishment of a new hospital, the number of professors at the hospital was divided into two teaching hospitals, resulting in many difficulties. To overcome this challenge, we will recruit more professors by securing research funds.

Dear the esteemed faculties, students, and alumnae of College of Medicine at Ewha Womans University! We will create “Good to Great (G2G) EUMC2”, which becomes the best medical learning place for students, the best medical research center for professors, and the best medical pride for alumni. I sincerely ask you to join us in making a valuable contribution to Great EUMC2.

Once again, I deeply thank God for entrusting this invaluable position at a crucial moment for the development of College of Medicine at Ewha Womans University. I will faithfully carry out my duty. May God’s blessing always be with all alumni and your families.
